sometimes i literally sit here and think to myself
i met my friends a few weeks ago
…..did i really???
ok but i’m just sayin
if i were in the middle of a zombie apocalypse
shaving my legs and pits would be the last thing i’d worry about
DID THEY HONESTLY TAKE CARL WITH THEM TO CHECK OUT THIS HOUSE
AND IS HE REALLY CHECKING A ROOM BY HIMSELF RN
AND DID HE REALLY JUST SHOOT A WALKER
ok but i’m tired of people being all angry that companions aren’t everyday people, like do you think romana was an everyday person no she was a fucking alien, leela wasn’t normal or everyday, fucking kamelion, adric and turlough, but because RTD fans think that 9 and 10 are the only doctors that matter, they get pissed that River and Clara have weird backstories
shut the fuck up
Moffat is a piece of shit but quit fucking pining for RTD who fucked up the show in his own right
the problem is not really in Clara and River being mysterious
it’s more about the fact that the Doctor is interested in them BECAUSE OF that mystery, and, dare I say, sometimes it looks like he is interested only in this mystery
and not to mention that people have preferences and maybe they prefer rtd’s who rather than classic or moffat’s who. AND maybe they just like the “everyday” sort of companions better.
And you’re totally welcome to have those preferences! I’m not shitting on your preferences! I’m shitting on the people who act like Moffat is ruining the show with this newfangled mystery companion business when in fact an argument could be made that RTD’s varied more wildly from what the show was about. If you prefer RTD, fine. I mean, I disagree with you hardcore, but fine. I’m not attacking you for that. I’m going after the people who think RTD’s era is golden and holy and Moffat is a bastard for varying from it.
yeah, i get that. but i think it’s a common misconception that most of the “rtd stans” dislike moffat so deeply just because he’s different from rtd. it’s really not that! i mean, doctor who is all about change, yeah? it’d be silly to watch a show like this if you couldn’t deal with change (mourning your favorite doctors and companions, sure. but not outright refusing to accept it).
i’ve seen very little of classic who, but i’m sure rtd’s who is very much different from it. it would have to be, to bring it into the modern era. but, from what i know of it through friends, tumblr, the tardis wikia, etc, classic who was about love and bravery and intelligence triumphing over hate and prejudice and (willful) ignorance. to me, at least, that’s what rtd’s era was about. moffat… eh, not so much.
and that’s where the big ~*~mystery~*~ companion argument comes into play.
i could list off the reasons, but honestly, i don’t want to and i’m sure you’ve heard them all before… but i’ve never heard (not seriously, at least, and not by anyone who takes criticism seriously) anyone say that rtd is the all-knowing holy one and moffat only sucks for changing what rtd did.
